We keep your information secure

We take steps to make sure that you, your computer, and mobile device are safe when visiting our website, using Internet Banking, and our BNZ app.

Ongoing monitoring

We monitor, audit, and inspect our security systems, equipment, and online banking transactions for any suspicious activity. We also continually monitor any scams that our customers have been targeted with and provide assistance.

How we keep your information secure

Secure website

Our website has security certificates (issued by Entrust) which prove to you that our site is genuine and encrypted.

Encryption

Encryption scrambles information while it travels over the internet or mobile phone networks, while you use our services. This keeps your information safe.

Voice identification

We have extra protection when you speak with our Contact Centre. This can be set up in branch or over the phone and allows us to securely identify you.

Protecting your cards

Zero fraud liability

If you’re the victim of credit card fraud, you’re covered with our Zero Fraud Liability guarantee. This means we’ll repay any fraudulent transactions made using your credit card or Flexi Debit Visa (online or in branch) ^.

Suspected card fraud

Your card could be compromised either through your physical card or your card information (e.g. card number) being stolen. If your card has been lost, stolen, or you suspect unusual activity, let us know straight away.

Checking payments go to the right place

We’re working with the wider New Zealand banking industry to help reduce the risk of paying the wrong person through the Confirmation of Payee service.

Reporting security vulnerabilities

Our Responsible Disclosure Program helps us ensure the security and privacy of our customers. We enable this through Bugcrowd, which is a confidential, third-party security platform.

If you believe you have found a possible security vulnerability, you can report this via our Responsible Disclosure Program. You’ll need to create an account or log in to Bugcrowd to report a vulnerability.

We treat all information you report as confidential. We ask that you do not disclose, discuss, or confirm the details of any suspected security issues.
